Crystal-clear mountain air, magnificent views and plenty of water fun for children: Zirbensee on the Glungezer is a wonderful day-out destination for the whole family! Situated at around 2,100 metres above sea level, this small mountain lake lies above the Tulfeinalm. Surrounded by Swiss stone pines, alpine meadows and an impressive panorama, this is the perfect place to enjoy the mountain scenery and simply take a deep breath.

Grab your bike from the camper, put on your helmet and off you go! There are plenty of options for mountain bike tours around Rinn – and best of all: you can set off straight from the Judenstein campsite.

The Issboden in particular is a lovely destination for a long ride. If you fancy continuing on foot after your mountain bike ride, you can also hike on from there to the Viggarspitze or the Neunerspitze.

The “Zirbenweg” Trail – Hiking with stunning views

A hike where virtually every step invites you to pause and take it all in: the Swiss Stone Pine Trail on the Patscherkofel leads through one of Tyrol’s most beautiful stands of Swiss stone pine and offers an impressive panorama of the Tyrolean mountains. Amidst ancient Swiss stone pines, alpine meadows and the scent of the forest, you’ll hike at an altitude of around 2,000 metres with unbroken views of the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. The Zirbenweg is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy nature, breathe in the mountain air and simply take a moment now and then to let their gaze wander.

The Patscherkofel cable car takes you comfortably up to the starting point. From there, the trail leads through the Swiss stone pine landscape, offering splendid views, all the way to the Tulfeinalm. If you wish, you can then take the Glungezer cable car back down into the valley. Of course, the walk can also be done in the opposite direction.

Tip: From the Zirbenweg, you could also hike straight back to Rinn.

By the way, both cable cars are very close to the Judenstein campsite and are easily accessible by bus. So you can safely leave your car at the campsite.

And there’s another little perk for our guests: if you stay for at least two nights, you’ll receive a 10 per cent discount voucher for the Patscherkofelbahn.

So, put on your walking boots, pack your rucksack and off you go into “the Swiss stone pine forest”!

Testin the campsite

As part of the opening celebrations, a ‘trial camping session’ was also held, during which friends and acquaintances from Rinn and the surrounding area put the site through its paces. Verdict: Test passed ✔😀 The real highlight, in the truest sense of the word, was our campfire pit right next to the campsite – and we all agree that this will remain the case in future! Our fresh water fountains with showers for cooling off were also a big hit with our guests! We’re looking forward to 1 May 2026!

Reopening of the Judenstein Campsite

Last Friday, the official opening celebrations took place at the Judenstein campsite. Invitations were sent out to all friends and interested parties from Rinn and the surrounding area, and many turned up! We had a wonderful afternoon in glorious weather! We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dean Augustinus Kühne for conducting the ceremony and the subsequent blessing. Many thanks also to the Speckbacher Musikkapelle Rinn for providing the musical accompaniment to the event, as well as to the Speckbacher Schützenkompanie Rinn and the Rinn Volunteer Fire Brigade, who took part in the celebrations! We look forward to welcoming our first guests on 1 May 2026. We can’t wait! (Photos: © Flo Taibon / taibonfotografie.at)
